knee ligaments

i had a huge swelling on my knee, the doc said it was fluid but since then i have bad pains when crouching & cannot sit on my folded legs at all. the pain is at the outer side of my knee. can anyone help?

You could have the fluid drained out at your hospital.
Good advice might be to rest, put the leg in an outstretched position, apply ice, and slowly build up strength in the knee with straight line exercises like light jogging.
A knee joint has a fluid sac behind the kneecap for a cushioning effect. If the fluid is leaking from this, (it does get replaced), then you will have pain as you say, and also if you were to jump for example. Sometimes the tear will repair itself - you don't say how long ago the injury was, but if it's still a problem after about 2 months, then you should ask your doctor about treatment.
Could be bursitis ..what they used to call housemaids knee.
As Aschenbach says ice packs.I had this in my knee but it has developed into osteo arthritis. Nip it in the bud now.See your doctor who will refer you to a physiotherapist.You could try Feldene gel or Traxam to rub into the knee.You don't need a prescription for these.
