An ageing ex Hammer Films star is knighted, who do you think would be more deseving?
Perhaps one of these, maybe?

The choices are popularist, but they have been so for years. At least the individuals have made a lifetimes contribution to entertain us, rather than some time serving Civil Servant who make up the majority of 'Sir's'.
Whilst the plight of these young men are tragic, I do not think a knighthood is appropriate. A military honour that recognises their bravery and scrific is the more correct honour. Giving them the same honour as a man who is just good at golf would be inappropriate.

I don't know why ageing should count against him, "old" git; it indicates how long he's worked to achieve this honour. He's appeared in a wide range of films - including Lord of the Rings and some of the Star Wars films - and brought a good deal of strength and dignity to the roles; though that's just my opinion, of course.
No, I can't see giving knighthoods to soldiers who've been injured. Military awards where deserved, and financial support where needed.

It's about bloody time Sir Christopher was knighted. Should've happened years ago. And whilst we're at it, why isn't Victoria Wood a dame?
Regarding the soldiers - if they're injured in combat and have displayed bravery beyond the call of duty, the Military Cross would be a more appropriate form of recognition.

I don`t see why an injured soldier deserves a medal more than Christopher Lee
I was listening to talksport the other night and Adrian Goldberg kept calling Simon Weston a Falklands Hero
What happened to him was unfortunate, not heroic, there were plenty of others just as badly injured and probably worse, the real heros fought the war out to the end
What the injured soldiers need is help, both medical and financial, not a title or a medal

////// Just because someone gets crippled fighting doesn't make them brave - perhaps it just means they are slow or clumsey //////////
Can't even spell clumsy!!!!!!!
And Jimmy Carr got ostracised for cracking a joke about these injured heroes.at least he has apologised and is to give the proceeds of a show, to the forces charity.
Yet you, you are an absolutely disgusting, miserable slithering slime ball who has no place in this country, and never mind illegal immigrants, if anyone should be shipped out of this country it shouid be you.
I only hope that other caring human beings on this site will equally condemn you for what you are.
In the meantime I will no longer be joining you in discussion, because I feel i can longer associate with cretins such as you.

i don't know if you noticed but the "u" key and the "i" key are side by side, a case of a slip of the finger, it seems, not a deliberate spelling mistake.
If pop stars, sport stars and others can be classed as heroes, then surely these guys deserve to be called heroes simply for what they have been through..
