They would never be kept secret and the children and parents will be traumatised for life. I cannot see any reason at all why there was this obsession to get her name them. I thought she was doing the decent thing staying sient. I'd rather not know and not have names named and forever in the public domain. Those innocent kids may well forget the ordeal but for constant reminders and a life time of knowing glances and peer bullying. She should have kep schtumm.

thats a good point r1. I must admit my first reaction was to get the names out of her come hell or high water. Certainly not so sure now. Trying to put myself in the parents position. Must be difficult with a whole rage of emotions.
how are the parents going to claim for financial damages if the children are not identified?

well kinnel, you get the AB lowlife brainless tw&t award anyway, well done, you must be very proud.
I guess parents want - and need - to know if their kids have been through anything traumatic.

kinell does have a point though really r1 doesn't he? - I wouldn't be surprised if somewhere along the line there will be some lowlifes out there who will try and gain some compensation out of it... unfortunately.

yes fair enough but what I'm saying, once she's told the old bill you might as well put it on the front pages. The knowledge will be unavoidable. When she was keeping quiet I thought it was better for all concerned.
If you had a child a the nursery where she worked would you not want to know if yours was one of those she abused?
Question Author
the fact that some would try and earn is not an excuse to assume that all the victims put compo ahead of their own childrens' welfare.

I think I've made that quite clear daffy. I would not want to know and I would discourage that knowledge from being disseminated at all, mainly because I'd not want the child to know later in life or have a distant memory enhanced. There is no rational reason why this information serves any purpose. If it is possible for someone like this to do the decent thinkg she was doing it by keeping schtumm!

I think my need to know if my child was one of those abused would depend on the age of the child. As most nurseries have children registered upto school starting age of 4/5 years old it could mean that some of the older children had been abused, they are more likely to remember what happened to them and need some sort of counselling. The younger children and babies probably would have no memory of any wrong-doing.
No, I wouldn't want to know.

Just been reading this news story, and someone said as the children were all toddlers and younger, the mental scarring of this will be none to minimal. If that was the case, I'd rather not know at all, the knowledge of what that vile creature did to my child would more than likely push me over the edge.
Many memories in childhood are forgotten. Just think of how many memories you can recollect under the age of 5. These may be due to trauma, loss of a parent etc. If that child has his memory reinforced after dwelling on might seem an unimportant happening to them then that memory will stick forever.

Fast forward and they may develop phobias of doctors or nurses examining them. Phobias are nearly always the result of an episode earlier in people's lives.

I think the parents should know.
I had several traumatic and violent experiences from 2-4 years old. Unfortunately I remember them vividly (although I am pretty sure there are other events my natural defences have blocked it did not block enough), this did not cause me problems during my childhood but when in my teens it hit me hard as I then had an understanding of what had actually happened to me. If the parents know they will be more prepared to deal with the eventual fall out that some of the children will experience.
I don\'t know how to phrase this because the whole thing is so awful, so here goes. Would you not be able to tell if your child had had foreign objects inserted into them? I remember something on redio 4 years ago where the doctor corroberated a little girl\'s story with a physical check. Surely there would be some visible sign?
By naming her victims, you know who she hasn't abused.

If I was one of the parents, I'd like to know that my child hadn't been assualted, rather than spending my life wondering. In fact, I'd like to know if my child *was* suffering the trauma of an assault.

You need to be brave as a parent. The idea at they'll be stigmatised publicly is just paranoid, and of less concern that the immediate care that these very young children need.
I have memories of a trauma I experienced at 2. Very vivid memories. I was in hospital and a nurse smacked me for wetting the cot. I think if I were a parent I would want to know, not just in case of future problems. I would want to know one way or another otherwise it would always be on my mind and I would get no closure.
