Problems with a B&Q Pullout Larder.

We have had a fitter trying to complete a kitchen for us for three months. He's very experienced, great track record, but has been constantly held up by a faulty part in a B&Q pull out larder.
Has anyone experienced similar? Any Ideas? It's a 300mm pull out unit. Is all assembled (several times!), but it just doesnt "glide" - really needs a shoulder behind it to get it nearly shut. The fitter identified the bottom runner as being the fault. One b&q rep "let slip" that untold numbers of these have been returned, but they since deny any problems. However, they agreed to send a replacement unit 6 weeks later (asking us to "just put the faulty one back in the box and seal it up"). This runner is exactly the same - will hardly budge. They are now going to send another one in about a month (and have again asked us to return the faulty part as if it was working (presumably to supply to the next unfortunate / mug).
So terrible service aside, any ideas for getting this unit loosened up? The fitter has ftted dozens of pull-out units, but never come across this problem.
Any help would be realy appreciated.

The fitter has now put in two, waiting for the third, but as he says, not much point as that will be faulty as well. Said he used to really rate B&Q, but now spends so much time returning faulty items (that they put back on the shelve to re-sell), that he has stopped buying from them, and is considering turning down jobs to fit B&Q kitchens because they are so shoddy. Shame really.

Thanks v much for advice,Docspock, but not sure if we're talking about the same unit (it's the tall, rather than the shorter version). There is just a central runner on both the top and bottom of the interior - nothing to the side. The interior storage bit isn't scraping on the bottom - it just needs a steam engine to slide the runner. In the meantime, I'm beginning to resemble popeye!
