How can I clean my iron

My iron has got burn marks on the base of it, it's only about a year old any idea's how I can clean it?

To clean the bottom of your iron use bicarbonate of soda mixed with water to make a fairly stiff paste and then rub over the base of the iron. Remove the paste with kitchen towel and run the iron (heated) over some scrap material to make sure it has all been removed.

If it is really bad you could try 'Iron Cleaner' retailed in UK by 'Vilene'

my mum always used a green scrubber and vinegar, then rinsed off with a damp dishcloth.
