Several years ago, I took the good advice of some AB techies and switched from both Norton and McAfee (on different computers). At the time, the general opinion was that Norton was too cumbersome and over-rated and slowed system's down and in any event the free services such as AVG etc were just as good if not better. I used AVG successfully for some time and now use Comodo which I find easier to operate. Having just purchased a new laptop for our daughter, we got the usual pressure from the retailer to take on Norton for half price (c£30) which we declined. The salesman pressed us as to why and I explained but he said that Norton was much better now and you don't get similar problems but we still declined the offer. I just wonder if the advice from AB'ers has changed in any way. We are very happy with Comodo. By the way, does anyone know how Ethel is, I haven't seen her responses lately (mainly because I haven't been on AB as much lately)?

Norton is still rubbish (I bet it was PC world or another one of the Dixon group that was recommending it, they are on commission for selling it!)
I would agree that Comodo is the best free AV package at the moment, and kaspersky is the best paid for solution.
Nobody has heard anything from Ethel for months now, she just stopped posting one day and nobody...
