On Friday I am planning to go to Ikea to buy a bed and mattress. I was thinking of getting a Latex Mattress at 380 for the 160 cm one. Does anybody recommend this mattress?

It came vacuum packed in a roll and you unfurl it. It then slowly fills with air and assumes a mattress shape (took about 4 hours).
It's a bit like a big, soft sponge, or lying in lovely warm mud.
Benefits are that it moulds to your body and is extremely warm. Ideal if you are elderly or have poor circulation or just like a big soft bed.
If I was buying another mattress, I'd buy a sprung one and a down filled mattress topper. You'll probably save a few quid to boot.
Happy dreams!

We have a latex mattress, although not from Ikea, ours is called Water Lattex and we purchased from a local supplier. As with the above answer ours was vacuum packed, but ours is very firm and not at all soft. Ours also has a winter side and a summer side, but we get that warm since having the mattress we only need it on the summer side, so if you get cold in bed this mattress is ideal as it doesn't have metal springs which get cold. I know they are a bit pricey, we paid 300 for a king size one, but I think they are worth it.
Thanks for your help guys. We are going to try them out when we get to Ikea. Apparently there are two types that they have. One is less firm than the other. My girlfriend has her heart set on a bed at Ikea which is 160 Cm wide which is not a standard bed size from what I can see. But it is the design she likes so I think we are getting it anyway. Thanks for the advise though.
Hello stoofur
I too purchased the Ikea latex mattress in 2007 (July/August) and have recently moved house to discover how incredibly heavy this thing is - so heavy in fact that the fabric handles ripped right off the side of the thing. (When it was delivered in the box by the Ikea home delivery guys I never appreciated how heavy it was at the time - it must weigh approximately 70 kilograms.)
I have just telephone Ikea customer services who said they've never had a complaint about this but I also see they no longer sell the model I bought so wonder if there is something in this.
I have been advised to write to the Croydon store manager where I bought the mattress explaining what happened when moving house, how many of us were carrying it etc.
Just wondered whether your handles have stayed affixed to the side of the bed in the 2 years or so that you've had yours?
