Que Tony?
Me hypocritical, double-standardised, drugged up and drunk?
I remember that one from my youth, billy. lol
What sort of woman would marry a policeman?................my sister and he's a smashing bloke.
I have a brother who's an ex copper. Quite high ranking when he finished up . He's long retired , pushing 75 now ,and to be quite frank he's ashamed to say that he used to be in the job .He's old school. Believes that they should be on the streets ,walking the beat ,talking to people ,making their presence known to local people etc and getting people on their side. .He retired shortly before the pen pushing ,form filling ,budget watchers, nick your own grandmother era. He would rather have taken a drunk home than run them in just to further statistics and up his arrest rate .
I admire him not just because he's my brother but he was a darned good copper who saw some awful things during his service and always did his best for what he believed in.
As for who would want to marry someone like that ....my sis in law did and they have now been married for nearly fifty five years .
One of the older quizzers tonight on my team is a retired police officer who's almost 80.....fit as as fiddle, and begin his great stories with " when i was a copper" ( he's lke Uncle Albert in OFAH )................he is such a nice guy and very funny with it.......even was involved in the 1960's Brighton mods v rockers riots, and says that it was all blown out of proportion on Quadrophenia, as they were very polite and accomadating when being told to move on or being arrested, and did, more or less, what they were told by the police.

Know a lot of police officers in my line of work.............never had a problem with them or seen any problem caused by them.

( i did get stopped a few months ago, as i just set off from home and was going to belt up at the first traffic lights near me, as running a bit late, and was spotted by a patrol car.....he flashed me.....i stopped and said sorry as i knew what he pulled me for...............he just said "i'll let you off, but come August there is an on the spot penalty to pay if spotted with no belt on...i'm sure you wont do it again, sir"..............suffice to say i have'nt done since!...........lol )

See ya
A person that will listen before getting his book out, A person that will diagnose & come to a sensible solution without getting his book out, A person that will give you a bollocking at the side of the road in front of other motorists & make you feel small instead of getting his book out, ( I had this in a previous HGV job) most of all, a person that can see sense & at times gives you the benefit of the doubt without showing you HE IS a policeman
