If i was to bet £10 on a rugby team to win by 6-10 points at the odds of 10-1. If the team won, but not by 6-10 points would i be entitled to the odds for the overall win.

Of course not, what part of "win by 6-10 points" is causing you confusion, that's why it's 10-1, FFS it's much harder to predict.
