Yep and you will love it too.
It is abit 'foreign' as my Mum might of said, but it's a heck of alot nicer than getting an invite to a divorce party so enjoy!!!

is that an order david? they live 2hrs away!
I suppose it depends how much you value your relationship with them :) Sometimes it is better to go with the flow and smile.
Please go, dress up, and more importantly enjoy yourself.
You do not have to buy a present!
I wouldn't buy a present. They got that first time round....this time should be just to show everyone that they love each other as much as they did then.
It must be nice for the kids to see.....

She is the DIL and must be obeyed! Where did this practice start - I only had anniversaries.

for some reason your replies and thread give me the impression that

a) you do not like your daughter in law
b) you do not want to attend
I also get that impression. If you don't want to go then don't. Say you don't believe in it....you made your vows for life and that should be enough.
As a woman it's in your genes to find any excuse to buy a frock, shoes, top & all the other tranklements to celebrate anything!
I dunno guys, if there isn;t a rift brewing why dish up the tea? It's the grandkids that will suffer

My DIL is sweet & happily lives 2h away near her mum.....we dont have too much time together to disagree. My son - glad she cares for him instead of me. My g'kids are the best!

I just hate formalities, socialising with strangers and 2h drive each way means I can't drink.....and not smoke!!! Not my idea of fun.
I would go all out and make a night of it, invite yourself to the house as a babysitter and tell them to take the night off and stay in a hotel !!!
Sometimes for the sake of harmony you've just got to suck it up !!
If you can stump up the funds, give them a night in the hotel as a pressie!!! Midweek would be cheaper too lol
