I am currently looking for jobs in the media industry after graduating university, particularly as a camera operator. Recently i saw a camera operators job advertised and the applicant had to be WITTER trained, does anybody know what this is?

I assume that if your degree trained you as a camera operator then you would know what they were talking about. Otherwisw I don't think you bother applying.

Sorry to be so negative but I think cameramen are trained on the job. You don't need a degree.

there are different types of camera operators. my degree trained me as a studio and tv broadcast camera operator. WITTER training wasnt mentioned on my degree, i think it might have something to do with health and safety though.

I've just tried every possible combination of search terms, including 'WITTER', that I can think of, in Google. Result: Nothing! Even putting 'WITTER' into the search box at the site of The Guild of Television Cameramen didn't help! However, I suggest that their site might be the place to go for further information:
http://www.gtc.org.uk/
Much of the site is for members only but there are e-mail addresses for various officers of the Guild. I suggest contacting the Secretary or, if you're certain that this is the path you wish to follow, the Membership Secretary.

This site may also have one or two relevant links:

I'm sorry that this doesn't directly answer your question but I hope that it will point you in the right direction.

Cheers for your help chris but im stumped lol

Hi there,

Chris - the link you posted has now changed to http://careersadvice....m%20Camera%20Operator .

On a different note... could it have been a typo in the job ad? It never hurts to double check when an unfamiliar acronym or word appears, HR departments are only human after all!

Thanks,
