what is paretlogic?
Hi, whenever I turn on my computer the following message appears:-
Error loading c:\program files\common file\paretlogic\uus2\vus.dll
The specified module could not be found
What is this please, and how do I get rid of it, or do I need it?
Thank you, Shirl

One thing you could do (if you don't already do it regularly) is to delete EVERYTHING that is in c:\Windows\Prefetch, all the files will have an extension of .pf - these are stubs for all the programs that you run and Windows loads these stubs at start-up to try to speed things up when you run one of those programs. After deleting the .pf's reboot; the first time afterwards the restart might be slightly slower than normal, but will speed up each time as you use the programs that you normally use.
If you feel uneasy about doing this then do a search for something like "XP prefetch clearing" and you will find numerous lnks about doing it. There is also a system setting (that I can't currently find) that automatically clears the prefetch entries after a specified number of days.
I don't honestly know if this will solve the problem but if there is a prefetch of a program that has since disappeared then it might possibly cause your problem.

If my prefetch suggestion doesn't do anything (and it probably won't) then, assuming the error is reported in a pop-up window that requires you to close it, you could try using a task manager to find which program is displaying that error window and take the appropriate action to deal with the offending program.
