How do cab drivers who work casually (weekends etc) get away with not paying taxes/NI ? I know alot of them work for cash in hand. Surely they are known about as the local council issues badges?

Also how do the cab companies get away with paying them? They must need to declare where there takings go to?

the cabbies will be self employed for this work

i know plenty of cab drivers and they are all very diligent when it comes to precisely declaring their income

why did the chicken cross the road?

thats another joke......

i would say they declare on average 25%-35% tops excluding tips

hm revenue and customs are happy to get something
most either work "split bag" which is where the actual owner of the car takes 1/2 of the takings OR they work for a fixed pay in ie they pay a fixed amount to "rent" the car per week, and anything they make n top of this they take home. In theory they should do their own tax/ni reurns but aybe don't? The council have nothing to do with tax
