Whenever I flush my toilet it lets out a massive noise like a horn. All the pipes vibrate. The only time it is a bit quieter is when I'm running taps at the same time I flush it. It happened last year and went away but now its back but worse. Any ideas on how I can sort it?

why would it be the ballcock? can you explain?
I can't comment on the cause as I don't know. If it is to do with ballcock it is likely that you only need to replace the seal washer, not the whole thing.
I wondered what that noise was 4get!! ;o)
Is it something to do with air in the water pipe? I have had this happen when turning on a cold tap. I can't remember what it was though, except it was air. I will ask Mr LL 'cos he fixed it. He's not back until this evening and you might get a plumber on here before then.
Hi 4get.
My OH is a plumber, just text him for you :o)

Well putting in noisy toilet in google would seem it may have something to do with flush valve being worn due to high pressure. Lofty we thought it may be an air lock but no matter how long we run taps for doesnt go.
If there is a tap of some sort on the feed pipe (possibly just adjusted by a screwdriver), then reduce the pressure leading to the cistern.
He said it will depend on what kind of toilet it is. Most likely a valve needs replacing.
He said what kind of toilet is it? Button or handle?

The noise is bad all the time!! How do I turn water supply off to loo?
Oh no, 4get's doing some plumbing!! Evacuate the area!!!
Just had a further thought. Is the cistern feed with mains pressure water or from a cold water storage tank?
Sorry no answer, just wanted to say I originally found Answerbank when I had a leaky toilet cistern and have been here ever since! It was sometime in November a few years ago, but when I looked at my profile it doesn't tell you when you joined any more.
