16d cold skate, say, served on flat plate as seafood (8). C - A - F - S - This could be crawfish, or crayfish, it seems to me. But 'cold' and 'skate' providing the C - - -FISH, how do 'raw' or 'ray' equate to 'a flat dish'? Or am I missing something? Grateful for help.

A skate is a kind of ray fish, so that would tend towards CRAYFISH, but I don't get the wordplay either, yet....
Yes Crayfish....C(old) RAY (skate) FISH ( a flat plate) = Crayfish - Seafood
