35mm Films to DVD

Where is the best place to go to convert around 20 35mm films to DVD? The last time I enquired it was going to cost around £250. I am hoping prices have come down ! Thanks all.

You can buy a dedicated negative/slide scanner from around £60, and do it yourself.

are these slides or actual movies ? slides are 35mm movies are usually 8mm

Sorry everyone, they are old movies, some black and white, from around 1940s - 1950s, so you will know more than me if they are 35mm or 8mm ! In little yellow square boxes. Thanks again.

cant be 100% but most home movies are 8mm , i found some old family stuff of my inlaws and this company and found this company excellent to deal with,

I had some converted by this company, and they did an excellent and professional job. They scan them frame by frame and remove imperfections, also add background music.

Chas and Old Git ... did you send them your films by post ?? I'm not sure how much footage is on the films, will they check them for me ?? Bit dubious about posting them ... I am in Surrey near South London, if anyone knows anywhere closer who I can take this to. Thanks guys :)
