The Petrol Price Ripoff
Is the governmentin in cahoots with the oil companies to see fuel prices keep at their massive high levels?
It has been reported that there are many oil tankers loaded with oil just sitting of the Devon coast waiting for the price to rise even further before unloading them. The speculators are having a field day.
Besides the costs don't you think they pose an undesirable possibility of an oil spill around our coast?
Don't you think a parking surcharge on these ships should be made to deter this practice or is the government turning a blind eye to it?
Maybe its just another method of controlling our car use and they are really thinking about the environment.
What else can be done?

These ships are coming here all the time. The risk of a spill is not increased.
If you charged them a parking surcharge, who do you think would pay it out of higher charges at the pumps?
Nowt to do with controlling car use or the environment - We are not running out of petrol as a result.

BP's profits were down by a quarter this year, mainly due to the fall in oil price. Presumably, they are trying to some of that back with prices now rising

If ou think Gordon Brown has a vested interest in seeing petrol prices go up you'll never make a politician!
He's sitting in a minority of public opinion with a general election 6 months away - the last thing he needs is a huge drop in public opinion due to rising petrol prices.
In fact I'm pretty certain that if he slashed petrol duty you'd accuse him of trying to buy votes and how was this going to help pay off the defecit!!!!

I don't think Gordon has ever been a friend of the motorist but uses the industry as a cash cow in order to finance his pet schemes like pledging £1bn to Africa.
To prove it the price of fuel goes up 2.5% on Dec 31st when the old rate of VAT kicks back in. What's that about 3p/litre.
Never mind he can always say he is saving the planet!

COULD THIS BE THE ANSWER ?
A man was driving down the road and ran out of gas. Just at that moment, a bee flew in his window.
The bee said, 'What seems to be the problem?'
'I'm out of gas,' the man replied.
The bee told the man to wait right there and flew away. Minutes later, the man watched as an entire swarm of bees flew to his car and into his gas tank. After a few minutes, the bees flew out.
'Try it now,' said one bee.
The man turned the ignition key and the car started right up. 'Wow!' the man exclaimed, 'what did you put in my gas tank'?
"BEE PEE" the bee answered (BP).

You live in a capitalist society. You are a pawn. The people doing this rule you and there is nothing you can do. Imagine a society were 90% of the wealth is owned by 10% of the people. Imagine a society were money lenders can jail you for not paying them back but when they lose all their money they are given billions more of your tax payments and in a couple of years will be coming after you again if you lose your money/job. Don't bother imagining these things because you are in this situation now.

Good news rov1200, the fuel will not go up 2.5% on Dec 31st.
Only the amount of VAT you pay will increase. Currently we pay 52p per Ltr in Duty on petrol and 55p per Ltr on Diesel plus 15% VAT. The cost of the fuel and the duty will remain the same, only the VAT element rises.
