Sticky

As a house-warming pressie I was given a large container of 'succulent' plants, they look good on the sideboard in the conservatory, however I've found a sticky resedue on the sideboard I clean it but its back in a few days, I can only assume its coming from the plant what is this and what causes it? I've now removed it to the greenhouse and problem solved no stickyness on sb but I miss my lovely plants.
Will I ever be able to bring them back??

the plant possibly has a pest on it, most likely wooley aphid or mealy bug which will secrete a sticky residue that drips onto your sideboard. See if you can spot anything and treat with wiping over the leaves with mild fairy liquid solution on a cloth. Alternatively use an insecticide.

Depending on the type of succulent you have, some may have a sap that drips out. Hoya comes to mind as one that drips from its flowers.

Yes we have now found out its a pest thats causing the problem and are dealing with it. Fingers crossed it seems to be working and it won't be long before I can bring them indoors again.
