Limewash?

I have some bedroom furniture that has pine tops. What I want to do is to paint them so they match other light woods in the bedroom. I have seen them use limewash on makeover programmes but am not sure if this is what I need. Also I wouldn't know how to prepare the surfaces. Any ideas?

how about using Ronseal's Paint & Grain paint?  I used it on kitchen unit doors a few years ago with great results.  Its easy so pop down to your local diy shop & have a look at it.  Comes in a range of colours including limed finishes. hope this helps.
