I think my daughters' pc has got a virus, so I am trying to instal MacAfee. Trouble is, whichever way I try to instal it, it won't let me use the installation process. The virus on the pc seems to be targetting the installation of any anti-virus software. Has anyone had similar problems and managed to sort it? Or has anyone got any good suggestions? Thanks.

You can first of all run an on-line scan available from Trend

then load your antivirus programme

there is a website called panda anti virus or something similar, maybe another ABer might give u the address or google it? they are a website that is free to use to remove any virus on your computer and i found it very useful in the past, it wont protect your computer from it getting viruses without paying but it will get rid of any that are already on it.

Ctrl Alt Delete...see what you have running, the go to

Type the Exe's in and see if it a Devil....You may well find that one of your running processes is the key to allowing a scan

in run type "msconfig" go to start up tab and uncheck any who you are not familiar with especially with a exe. extension,( or google the virus name to get full details to see if it is in your start up)

You should try chucking the computer from a great height, maybe a second floor window..

You've got a virus or trojan that is trying to thwart any attempts you make to remove it. Go to http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ and download McAfee's Stinger program which should remove it.

It's very important to have antivirus on a web-connected PC these days. Alledgedly, a "naked" PC will be attacked within 15 minutes of connecting. Don't forget to update your AV software very regularly also.
