Laptop shutting itself down

Hi can anyone help? When i play "Bejewelled" for more than half an hour my laptop just shuts itself down. I can't switch it back on unless i leave it for about 10 minutes. Then it starts up and is fine again (unlessI play bejewelled). It has also done it once when I was on Facebook playing pool. i'm thinking maybe a graphics problem or the virtual memory?

Sound like an overheating problem. This would cause an automatic shut-down. Make sure dust isn't blocking any of the airflow on your laptop.

Hi. I experienced a similar problem, what I did was to identify the area on the lap top that is getting very hot, then rather than putting it directly on my lap, I put it on a wooden board and try and ensure that it does not touch the area that is overheating, since i've done this , no further problems. There is a device you can purchase that will cool your lap top down.

Thanks for that. It does seem to get very hot but I use it on a table and sit it on a table mat - the type you put your dinner plate on. Perhaps I should try hoovering it?

Just an update in case anyone cares. I did try hoovering it and it seems OK now. The vents underneath were very clogged. Thanks all for your advice.
