I have a 55 plate Ford Fusion 1.4 TDCi and over the last few weeks have noticed a 'whining' noise (above the normal diesel sound) which gets louder when the engine is revved. It's most noticeable when I accelerate in 1st and 2nd gears but not gearbox related as you can still hear it when revving the car in neutral. The car has only covered just over 20k miles and drives fine. I am just a bit worried and plan to get it checked out. Any ideas what it could be ?
