Since we altered the clocks , to whatever we did . I cannot get my head round the fact that it always seems to be dark. When I take the dog at 7-30 a m it is dark but getting lighter a bit. Equally when I take the dog out at 3 -30 pm it is starting to get dark fairly quickly.I realise that it is light in between these times, but what has the clock change actually done.

Please help and explain , feel stupid not understanding. TIA Brenda.

we went back an hour in october and i think is so we get an extra hour of daylight in the afternoon and the kids aren't walking home in the dark. i suspect however that there is a much more complicated reason but this is what i always understood!
Changing the clocks has not altered the amount of daylight we get. If we had not changed the clocks it would still be dark at 7.30, but it would be light at 3.30pm..
The days get a bit shorter every day until the shortest day of the year - December 21st. They they get a bit longer until the longest day of the year - June 21st.
It is the opposite in Australia.
i just put my watch back 3 hours and it went pitch black out side
I understood that the reason was this gave extra light to schoolkids in Scotland since they are now independant we should stop this in England & save a lot of money.
Scotland is not independent
