me, my dog who my nan regularly looks after, my mum and my aunty all get called each others names. She hasn't got anything mentally wrong with her (including alzheimers), its the only thing she ever gets mixed up or forgets. Is this a bit odd?
Plus my dad, (not blood related to my nan) used to get my two brothers (not twins) and my uncles names mixed up, So he calls them all son when on the phone (he's older than my unlce and their dad passed away young so he looked up to my dad as a child).
My Granddad used to do the same he always called my mum "Mum, Val, Wendy, Pooh" (His mum, wife, sister and my mum's nickname) and my Mother in law constantly calls my partner by his brothers name and gets cross with him when he doesn't answer! There's nothing wrong with them, they just muddle names up. My Granddad was one of the most intelligent people I knew, he could tell you the intricate details of how most things worked but names, just slipped his mind!
totally normal, my Mum used to go through all our names when we were kids and I do the same with mine! Especially when I am angry lol I am still calling my dog Max, even though Max is now gone and I only have Bingo, but they were 'Max and Bingo' for 10 years and so I still call max and bingo when it's feeding time!
First 2 children's names begin with J so poor 3rd child gets called Jabigail nearly all the time. I call my son by my brother's name. I thought this the normal thing to do !! My Mum used to through a whole roll call and we just answered when she got to our name.
totally normal at any age. My name is Kate but at work I get called Kim (my colleague) quite often and vice versa, we tend not to correct people now :o)
Also my dad will usually run through every females name in my family before he gets to mine.
Quite amusing
