If you know what the program is called, go into "start"->"settings"->"control panel"->"add/remove programs". From here, find the program and uninstall it. That would be the simple answer but is probably not the one you want. Another idea is to check the "startup" folder in the program list ("start"->"programs"->"startup") and delete it from this - however this will only stop it from loading up, not delete it from the computer. Depending on what verion of windows you have there are different ways of tackling the problem. After trying to uninstall it, try removing it's registry value to stop it loading up, then delete it. To do this, go to "start"->"run", type in "regedit" and press enter. WARNING: messing with the registry can result in serious problems, so be careful. If you are on ME or XP, do a system restore before hand. If you are on another version of Windows, load up regedit then click on "registry"->"export registry file", change the export range to "all" then save it as something. When regedit loads up click on "my computer" to the left and press ctrl-f to search. Type in the program name and delete all values. Restart the computer and see if the problem has gone.------------------------------------Hope this has helped you-----------------------
Good advice, but be wary when editing the registry. Why not try msconfig.exe? (start>run type msconfig then OK). They have a startup tab and you can untick most things except scanregw and systray. BTW, Win9x and ME ship with this utility but you can download a version for Windows 2000 from microsoft.
