i assume you are going on holiday and will be back in a few weeks? you have been around it for the first 6 months of its life it would take a long time for those memories and instincts to be erased
stellagirl, how long are you going away for?
You'd have to go away for a long time for her to forget you, stellagirl! However, she may be a little upset and confused because much as she loves your brother, as she's so young and your home is her home, she will miss you and the place where she lives. I hope your brother is prepared for the odd mishap or accident and will be kind with her. When she sees you again, she will be over the moon, I promise, she'll go bananas and you'll probably cry! Have a nice holiday, she'll be OK.
They don't forget I can assure you.Although not a pup I took on a rescue dog when he was a year old.We had only had him for six weeks and due to a bereavement had to go abroad for a week.So...I had to put him in kennels. When we came back and the lady from the kennel brought him home he went absolutely bananas,he was so pleased to see us.Still got him by the way,ten years old now.Enjoy your holiday and don't worry.

i will only be away for a week I m just feeling sad about leaving her !

When we go on holiday my parents look after our two golden retrievers (they have one of their own) and have done so ever since they were pups (the dogs, not the parents).

I get the impression that both dogs totally forget about us the minute we are out of sight, as long as someone else is there to feed them, walk them and play with them.

However, the welcome we always get on our return makes up for the fact we have missed them and they always seem glad to get back home and into their normal routine.

Don't worry- it's normal to feel sad about leaving her and you had better get used to the feeling, as it doesn't get any easier when she is older!!

When you drop the pup off, leave him with something of yours like a jumper that will smell strongly of yourself (not saying you smell but to a dog it will) - this will comfort the dog as well as easing your worries.
I looked after a friend's dog for a month, and although he was perfectly happy with me,and gave me lots of licks and cuddles and tail wags, when they picked him up again,he was so pleased to see them.He left me without even looking back! Your wee dog'll be fine, don't worry!
