Apply a hairdryer to it to soften the glue and then remove the stickers and replace them on the appropriate sides - voila!

Twist one layer so that it is at 45 degrees to the layer below. The corner cube will now be 'hanging' over the edge of the rest of the cube. Twist this cube smartly and it wiil come off in your hand. All the other bits will now detach easily, leaving only the squares at the centre of each face. Reassemble in the correct order. I used to be able to do all that in less than a minute!!

Im with sd on this one I used to take the sticker off the centre square on either of the sides and there is a cap, take that off and theres a screw which when undone it falls apart then simply reassemble in the right order! I love a challenge.

Speaking from experience, a simple solution doesn't exist. There are websites that claim to solve it in three or four moves, but be warned, a "move" is actually a complex sequence of turns of various parts of the cube, usually more than ten!.

In the 80s, when everyone had a cube I completed it but only after studying the solution for three nights solid. (Sad I know!)

After practising for a long time, eventually I could do the cube every time in less than a minute. I bought a cube in 2000 to show off to my daughters after they saw one on telly and found that I couldn't remember how to finish it and had to hit the net!

.shtml and http://www.unc.edu/~monroem/rubik.html . Some solutions are faster than others and I've only done it in under a minute once since I tried again.

If you do try, some words of advice... First, read the instructions carefully and follow them exactly, and make sure you keep the "active" cube face towards you throughout a move (sequence of turns).

Second, don't give in... It is possible and the sense of achievement when you finally do it will be something to savour...! Think of this, the world record holder has memorised thousands of possible permutations just so he can choose the quickest moves to finish the cube from certain stages.
