I ordered a new car which is now ready for collection. After a final telephone call to confirm collection day etc we are just about to end the call and the dealer asks my date of birth, I am just curious why did he actually require it and what for.
Is this standard practice, has anyone had this asked of them when buying a car? Is it marketing? I dont wish to be hit with loads of junk mail,.any ideas ....thanks
The dealer will need it as the AFRL system that they register the car with via the DVLA asks for it. As someone who works in the car finance industry I'd be interested to know how much of a better rate you got elsewhere and if you were aware of the difference between car finance and a parsonal loan?
no credit check as I took out a better rate loan elsewhere, I was just curious as to why I was asked this as its personal information. oh well maybe its an admin thing

Thanks Frankieola for clearing that up, as for my good loan deal well I was offered finance but I have savings myself and my family lent me a cash so really cant get better than that as I have quite a bit of time to pay it back. The vehicle is going to be my office, so it will pay for itself in no time.
