This mornings news
I was a bit puzzled by the bit of ranting that went on from some young muslims on the news. Saying that these bombers where angry about Bush and Blair invading Iraq.
If this is the case, what excuse do they have for the 9/11 event.

We all know this. We also all know that some young people are particularly impressionable and will easily absorb the opinions of others. They may well have picked these ideas up from older people who are very persuasive with their words. If you've seen the episode of Spooks where a young Muslim boy is persuaded to be a martyr, then as much as we can believe fiction, you'll have seen that youth can be persuaded of anything by figures they trust.
I think the Iraq war (sorry, THIS Iraq war) is just an example of what some Islamic extremists are against: the spread of Western Capitalism.
You are correct acw...it was planned for months and puts my previous answer in a bit of a tangle. Remember Osama Bin Laden wanted the Americans infidels out of Saudi arabia...which he considered the holy land. That was the main aim....the rest (israel/palestine) were supporting the cause. Britain was Ok as it always was sympatehtic to the palestinan cause and made the right noises and did see the israelis as the aggressors. But Iraq and Blair changed all that.
I'm glad you guys see my point. :-) I suspect that there are underlying reasons all the time. It's still basically an "anti-Western-capitalism" thing. I'm sure there are often events in the news that we could identify as a trigger - like the ones you guys have mentioned in your posts.
I have to say that I also feel Blair gets too much cr@p for all of this. The Conservatives would also have gone to war - they said as much. It's only the LibDems who've repeatedly stood up against the war. So I think it's just the general state of UK-US relations, rather than one man personally. But I guess that's another debate.
