and it all depends where and how much.
Property may dip a bit - I think they are falling slightly in manchester for example but all that means is that there are properties to be had and a lot of them!
Make sure you get a survey
and get decent advice - use a licenced conveyancer they're good and cheap
dont do shared ownership -
and that's about it - good luck. PP
no point in waiting really. if there's a sign of the bank of england putting up the base rate then you can be sure house prices will fall slightly. advice as per peterpendant except you shud check out area for trouble, ie asbo's - plenty of sites give details of life in certain areas. if you buy in bad area you may have trouble selling later on so that's quite important. if you have secure job go for the best you can get. new build's are always good deal cus they go up fast after year or two (you could always sell then to recoup money). online conveyancers are fab!! i used walker morris and they were great.
You will kick yourself if you leave it too long to get on the property ladder. It is a buyer's market at the moment and if you have cash or nowhere to sell, so much the better. IHouse prices seem to be staying the same in the South, not getting any higher but no lower either. There are always deals to be made if you see something, and don't forget to try and knock them down on the price. And as above, get a proper survey but don't let it put you off if you get pages and pages of things to do, the surveyor is just covering himself. Get a decent builder to take a look at the property and put your mind at rest - you might get a bargain. And always buy "the worst house in the best road" remember Location Location Location. Dont buy near a church, a school, a garage, nightclub, or anywhere noisy at night!
