Can I claim for clothes and other items ruined by damp from my landlord?
I left my rented property for 10 days and upon my return discovered large black patches of mould in my bedroom cupboards (which hadn't been there when I left). The room is always adequately ventilated and I do not dry any clothes in there so I don't think its any lifestyle factors causing it. I also have a history of asthma so am always concerned about preventing damp. The wall is an exterior wall encasing a blocked up chimney stack.

However, there had been a long history of him reporting the damp, having it 'fixed' and evetually moving out. He took photographic evidence as well, for over a year.
I'm not sure how badly affected your clothes would be after 10 days? That's pretty quickly affected if there was no damp when you left or previous to your being away?
