Why? She didn't even clobber him, she just threatened to.
did she go and get a load of mates and then chase after him, pinning him down and then attacking him?

No

Did she use proportional and reasonable force?

Yes.

Is this difficult for you to understand?

Oneeyedvic --Such Hostility towards me. Save it 'till Your Family is attacked !
No hostility but a simple question.

Are you seriously thinking that this woman should be in prison?

Can you not see the differences between this case and the other one discussed?

What has my family being attacked got to do with this case?
Oneeyed.....like brionon, I am also a little confused re. the law.

This has nothing to do with defending one's self, as she was not under attack.

When you see somebody else being attacked, what is the definition of reasonable force in coming to their rescue?
There is no definitive - it has to be 'reasonable'. You simply cannot legislate for every evantuality - so someone impartial has to look at it and say - Yes, that was reasonable.

From the reporting of this case, most people will say, what the lady did was reasonable. Her friend was being threatened by an implement, so she picked up an implement and threatened back.

This is not comparable at all to the previous case discussed - and I will not bother repeating why he was not being 'reasonable' in that case.
If we all were sent ot the nick for threatening- the prisons would be full to overcrowding....what do you mean they already are?

Are you for real or just trying to wind people up, brionon?
Ordinary people shouldn't take the law into their own hands. There'd be anarchy.
If a thief comes into a house they should be allowed to take what they want without fear of being assaulted.
Of course she should go to prison.
Another wind-up merchant, sandy wroe?
of course sandy, the police are supposed to protect people while at work ,and no worker should ever be attacked while doing so!!!! what is this world coming to!!!

sorry for the sarcasm everyone ,for one thing she armed herself she was 70 and probably felt threatened as it was done in her house .......although she never hit him with it im half her age and i would have hit them with it!!!! just glad he finally got caught even though it was his victim who saw him in town and alerted police
