I received a letter from the hospital last week which said my blood tests showed that I have an inflamed liver. I am only 18 years old and apart from having an autoimmune disorder I am otherwise perfectly healthy.
I don't drink a lot and am not overweight so I was wondering what could cause my liver to be inflamed?
I have looked at health websites and all that seems to come up is alcohol related things and hepatitis.
The only other symptoms I have is that I more tired than usual and seem to be needing more sleep.
Any ideas?

Thanks.

Not been diagnosed. I have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder but they haven't managed to find out what it is yet. I attend a rheumatology clinic every 6 months where they check on things but they don't seem to be making much of an effort to come to an actual diagnosis.
Not on any medication. No treatment since I have practically no symptoms.
You could try looking up a genetic based illness.Soryy I cannot be of more help, its just one of those things I have had a little test for but cannot remember the name.Try your GP,and yes it is a long shot but may give you some answers.

Only found out I have an autoimmune disorder as I have Raynauds and when I was diagnosed with that they did routine blood tests which showed I have an autoimmune disorder. Something like a positive ANA test I think.
Home......difficult to say, but it sounds as though you have abnormal liver function tests, clearly unrelated to acohol excess as many are.

It sounds like a sub acute viral hepatitis.

You will need further blood tests to arrive at a definitive diagnosis.

Thanks Sqad,

had some blood taken this week to check liver function.
Won't find out anything till I go to the hospital on 5th Jan so just have to wait it out for the diagnosis I guess.

Thanks again.
