Is the eyesocket totally encased at the back separating the the back of the eye from the brain, If so how thick is the bone?

Fishnoodler,,,,the optic nerve is not the only structure that has to get into the eye socket, there are also many nerves that come from the brain and pass to the muscles of the eye and they pass through a structure called the superior orbital fissure which is long and at least times the size of the optic foramen.
the following pass through it
Lachrymal nerve
Frontal nerve
Trochlear nerve
Superior orbital nerve
Nasociliary nerve
Inferior orbital nerve
Abducent nerve
In that order from inside to outside.
