Why do people ask such stupid, idiotic, obvious questions?

Because they can ? There are plenty of things I know little or nothing about, but I was always taught to "go look it up" in whatever reference book was available. I still do that, but I also ask stupid questions - it's just that they aren't stupid from my point of view when I'm trying to find something out
