This morning my central heating broke down so I rang the plumber at home (he works for himself) to be told by his wife that he was out working and gave me his mobile number. I rang this number, explained the problem and he told me that he couldn't get out of his drive due to the snow so couldn't come.
Needless to say he is no longer my plumber.
The plumber was no doubt "working away!"! did eventually find one that fixed the problem (frozen pipe)
Will be googling for home breakdown cover tomorrow.
I suppose I think it's reasonable because it covers absolutely everything - they came when my lights were flickering, when my shower leaked, when my boiler sounded like a plane roaring - but you are right I should look around really as these call-outs are only every year or so.
Did it occur to you that when his wife said he was out working he may well have been either outside his own house working on something or he may have been at a neighbours house or someone with in walking distance?
There has been some heavy snowfalls with lots of people abandoning cars. Unless you are within walking distance of your plumber you should not complain. Or would you rather he got stuck in the snow?
