DNS

I have AOL Broadband but the disk wont install in my computer and my computer doesnt connect wirelessly just local so i wire up the netgear router to my computer and it works okay for about 10mins then disconnects and comes up with error with DNS . Am i even connected to AOL ? What can i do ? Should i change broadband and get a new router ? HELP !?!
