ahmskunnirt.....holland legalised SOFT drugs and interestingly enough the heroin problem in the netherlands has not grown since records began in 1971...i'm not supporting the legalisation of drugs but there has to be something in giving the people just a little of what they want...personally i feel that alcohol is the worst drug on earth and has ruined more lives than any other drug ever will....partly because it's so socially acceptible.

I can see what Gonzo means tho in a way, it has been proved that legalising anything takes the heat off it a bit. Its like some parents allow an under-age person to take alcohol in the home in the hope that they wont go getting legless and chaotic outside? If its available in some form then its not so exciting as it would be otherwise, same as anything done before whether it be CB radio which died a death once it wasnt illegal. Nobody was interested suddenly it was uncool.
If you legalise drugs, firstly you get rid of the criminal elemant, secondly its not so cool any more so less people would get hooked, thirdly the drugs people take are pure and not cut with whatever crap the dealer has so there would be less deaths, forth the government could tax it so if there were any extra NHS costs then they would be covered. would be no diferent to cigerettes or alchohol

Doesn't honestly sound like what I'd call sane (though not what I'd call bipolar either). More llike the village idiiot than a demon drug pusher.

i'm by no means disappointed ahmskunnirt! just very suprised to know that someone can travel so extensively with thier eyes firmly shut!...sorry, but the governments of the world can only ever put a dent in the world drugs trade, while the people of these regions are still poor then they will continue to produce drugs,it's as simple as that. you or i will never be able to do anything about it so don't bang yer head against a brick wall...build a bridge and find a new cause to trumpet about!
