The dreaded VAT increase
9 Answers
First we had Mcbottle and "The Eybrows" spouting on about how the VAT decrease of 2% would drive the economy forward even though shops were offering 20-30% off or more. (didnt though we are still in recession unlike most other countries)
Now the Shops are at it. Just walked past the cooler in Tescos' Signs saying all in this cabinet at old VAT prices. Since thre was nothing more than £3.5 in it thats a massive saving of 3p. Gawd, I'surprised I wasnt killed in the rush
So do the shops now consider us in the same vein as His Tonyness and Bottler viewing us all as thick ? Was this just another expensive Noo Labour PR exercise ?

In view of that, many of them have decided not to bother, especially as 2.5% is neither here nor there when they're discounting 50% anyway.
I don't see why they shouldn't try and make something out of it by advertising 'old VAT prices' when that's the case.
