Typhoid Vaccination to Eygpt

Hi all, hubby and I are going to Eygpt on 22nd Jan for 2 weeks. Problem is I'm update to with all jabs
appart from Typhoid which ran in November 09!

My hubby and I are also trying to have a baby and have read there are risks if I fall pregnant with Typhoid still in my system. My GP today said to try and avoid the jab but reassured me that I'll be ok because the Typhoid would still be in my system as it only ran out a couple mnths ago....but I'm not sure really..

I want to have the Typhoid jab for protection but don't want to take the risks if I fall pregnant...not sure what to do. Anybody had this experience before or can give me any advice, with thanks.

I think your GP is the one with experience.

November was never an exact cut off date when protection went from 100% to nothing - more likely when it went (and very very very approximately anyway) from say 90% to 89%. (I'm making those figures up - but they will be of that sort of nature)

you're likely to be pretty safe in Egypt anyway, unless you're going out into the desert to live with packs of wild dogs. I've been there several times and never had any jabs at all. (Usual precautions about drinking bottled water only and not eating uncooked food etc.) I'd take the GP's advice.

I don't mean this unkindly, but If it is that much of a worry, why go to Egypt in the first place, in these circumstances? Maybe you need to rethink priorities?
