irresponsible of me????
14 Answers
Who thinks that it would be irresponsible of me to let my son(almost 15yrs) have a drink (alcoholic drink) tommorow night? I know for a fact his some of his school friends drink! He.s very well behaved, wouldnt dream of swearing in front of me, has excellent school reports and almost certainly looks set to be a professional footballer! We're just having a family night in with a few nibbles, game of trivial pursuit etc so he would be with me!

My nephew had a glass of wine a couple of months back with a celebration dinner and he is 11 (he didn't like it though). I also remember having a weekly glass of wine with the Sunday roast from the age of 12.
Nothing wrong with something at home in moderation. After all, there is nothing worse when being a teenager than being told you can't have something that you see everyone else with.

We let our children drink a glass of wine or beer at home but that didn't prevent 16 year old son running full tilt into a bottle of vodka and spending 3 days in hosp and a court case !! little swine !! But having said that I do think it's a good idea to let them have a drink at home just don't think that it will make them resonsible drinkers in any way !!
I think if parents let their children have a drink in their home it is good because that will stop them thinking that they are missing out on something and then drinking behind parents backs. I had a couple of sherries every christmas morning from the age of around 13 and that was 50 years ago and it did me no harm infact I hardly ever drink and if I do it is only a couple of glasses of wine!!!!
