Anyway, obsessive jealousy is a serious condition which can get out of hand and damage your relationships - it is often linked to self-esteem issues. As the ex-partner of someone with this problem, I recommend you try to find a counsellor who can help you to re-think things. The fact that you are aware that your feelings are irrational is a good sign

Thanks ann_h that is helpful!!
and yeah i is mainly with the guy i am seeing but also sometimes with friends or my family too, its not like an obsession i dont think but i do agree with you that is is probably related to self-esteem issues, as in my opinion and in my friends we are all unsure of why he is with me when he seems to be the sort of guy who could have anyone. But he doesn't see that point of view.
Thanks for your help!

maybe, it's the fact that when you miss someone, or that a lonely or an upset feeling sets in, so do negative thoughts, which maybe make you question if it's jealousy,,maybe it's not lealousy..
and while on this topic,, just the fact of not knowing where you stand wether it be in a relationship etc,,, can have similar affects, it's our mood that will control these types of thought,,
always try to find direct resolution,, if not an immediate opportunity do something active, something that doesn't allow you to think, that will calm it down a bit
