In tonight's Mastermind, one of the general knowledge questions was "In which North-Eastern town is the Millennium Bridge which was the winner of 2002 RIBA Stirling prize?" The contestant answered "Newcastle", to which John Humphries replied "Gateshead". A serious miscarriage of justice! The Millennium Bridge spans the Tyne, so half of it is in Gateshead and the other half is in Newcastle.
I appreciate that it's known (completely incorrectly) as the Gateshead Millennium Bridge (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gateshead_Mille
nnium_Bridge),
but that wasn't the question. As far as I'm concerned, both answers are correct...

It's a tough one, though if he asked which town, it would have to be Gateshead as Newcastle is a city. And as it's known as the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, Newcastle is the wrong answer.
However, i appreciate what you're saying and i do think it was a badly phrased question. I think he would possibly have grounds to appeal if it meant that he lost because of it (sorry i didn't see it)
