I have heard some talk recently that lavender bedding is not good for small animals like rats, hamsters, guinea pigs, mice, gerbils...etc.
Any thoughts?

Its ok for hamsters, mice, gerbils and guinea pigs, but with rats anything scented can cause respiratory problems. You can also get lavender scented sawdust, although as I am allergic to sawdust I don't use it anyway.
My daughter works at a wild-animal rescue centre and she tells me that they use lavender to calm lots of small animals and have particular success with baby hedgehogs.
do people actually keep rats and mice as pets?
