Hi, I don't suppose anyone knows how to get more space on a laptop. When I bought it I wasn't all that with laptops and I only had 40GB now I only have about 7GB left and need more space.
I've tried deleting internet files and cleaning the disk up of files but it doesn't do much.
If you are running that close to the limit you need to keep a good grip on your housekeeping. The ideal solution is to fit a larger drive in your laptop. Failing that I would also suggest you get external drive and use that to store ALL your data files, leaving only the OS and applications on your C: drive. Make sure you have nothing on C: drive that could be somewhere else.
an external hard drive to keep your " none windows " programs and files on will keep your C drive relatively free for your " virtual memory" and this will keep your PC running faster.
it will also give you the added hard disk space your seem to require.
i think that will explain what has been posted before " in more laymans terms "
Although I've never done it I would imagine that deleting all those help files that no-one ever looks at would free up loads of space. I typed in *.hlp in search and I found loads.
an interesting suggestion , however deleting files that you are not entirely sure as to there use " some files having multiple uses ie some drivers cover more than one program. could have consequences that would be undesired .
Coupled with the fact this particular user appears to not be highly literate regarding computers , i fear this maybe not the best course of action or suggestion for this person.
