Pifco 4-way socket

Hi, I see that Netto are selling the above for £3, this would be useful behind the TV for the various plugs, TV, DVD, Freeviw etc, they would be off the floor, plus no extension lead lying aroud, but my question is are they safe enough? I suppose they would be just as safe as the ext.leads with four plugs in it, but I thought I'd ask if anyone thinks differently. TIA Rosy

They are the same as normal extension leads, as long as you don't exceed 13amps current drain they are perfectly safe.

Mains powered direct plug-in appliances are limited in their permissible size/weight to ensure that they do not place an excessive force on the wall socket into which they are plugged.

These direct plug-in adapters may meet these requirements when nothing plugged into the outlets; but I reckon with mains plugs and/or direct plug-in items connected, there is every possibility that they will place an excessive strain on the mains socket. This could lead to a poor electrical connection (at the wall socket) and therefore I would say that a trailing 4 way socket is preferable (and cheaper at your £ shop).

rosy I would suggest that you pay extra to buy surge protected ext lead for your tv,pc, dvd,freeview, etc. well worth the extra for all your valuable electronics.
