I fancy buying one of these, but when I read the specs on them, it's confusing
Do they work the same as a DVD recorder?
Will I need "blue ray" disks?
Can I record from tele the same as I do with my DVD recorder?

Thanks Bobbi ♥

Or betamax lol

You can record normal SD channels onto a blu ray recorder no problem

(betamax was far better quality than VHS BTW)

yep so I have heard pussy

would you have a preference with the model Chuck?
I couldn't suggest one, they are very new on the market so I've not had any experience of any of them.

I personally would wait a little while, the recorders are still really expensive, they will drop in price hugely over the next year.

thanks for that tip Chuck, I will
yes chuck you can but why record them onto that when blu ray are HD
You might record SD channels onto Blu-Ray because you'd get much much more recording time. The space afforded by Blu-Ray means you can have HD quality or loads of storage. Blu-Ray is just a storage format at the end of the day, it is ubiquitous with HD, but that's not it's only function.
Most blu ray recorders would also record DVD's so for some SD stuff you could use a normal DVD.

the main benefit of using a blu ray disk to record SD content on would be the time, using long play mode you could record about 30+ hrs of normal TV onto a blu ray disk
The successor to Blu-ray is already available:
