Changing to wireless router

I currently have a wired router, supplied by Virgin Broadband. If I want to change to a wireless router, is it a case of replacing the exisiting one with a wireless one (obviously suitable for cable broadband) or do I need to link the existing to a wireless one?

Not too au fais with wireless stuff so any simple advice would be appreciated!

Are you sure you have a router at the moment?

Virgin normally supply modems, not routers, how many connections has it got on it?

I think it is just a modem.

In which case you pull the cable from the back of your computer and just plug it into the modem port on the new router when you get it.

Nag Virgin - they appear to be giving wireless routers to new customers last I looked.

We want to keep the main PC wired to router, but use wireless for laptop, Wii consloe & Sony PSP. What is the best way to wire this up?

a wireless router will have 4 or 5 ports on it for wired connections. just plug your computer into any one of those.
