how do i...?
8 Answers
evening all,
im having problems putting a photo onto a disc so i can go and get it printed off at a shop.
im on a laptop using vista home basic.
im selecting the photo in my documents and clicking on 'edit' and 'copy to'
i put a disc in and click on 'my computer', but when i try to click on 'e drive' to copy it in there everything comes to a halt.
it comes up as 'my computer not responding' and the timer stays on forever until i try to end the program or restart the program etc, the only thing to do then is press the power button to turn the laptop off because all the desk top icons disappear, including the shut down one.
i power up again, lots of writing appears on the screen, including a /reccommended repair 'option or a 'start windows as normal' option, which is the one i choose as it starts everything up ok again if ive removed the disc from the draw that is.
ive also tried using windows media player too to put some songs onto a disc, but the same things happens with that too.
what am i doing wrong please?
thanks ever so much if someone can help.

Most laptops come with some free CD/DVD burning sotware pre installed (NTI, Nero, etc). Look in your programs to see what one you have got, then give it a try.
I have Nero on my laptop, and it is a copy I downloaded from a torrent site.

thanks ever so for replying, most kind, thank you.
well, this morning i was still having the same problems as i mentioned in my question - each time i put a blank disc in and clicked on the e drive, the timer wouldnt go, and 'computer not responding' would come up, i clicked on 'close problem' and lost all my desk top icons therefore had to force shutdown.
tonight when i read your replies, i tried a normal cd to see if the laptop read it, as chuck mentioned, and yes it did.
i then put my blank disc back into the drawer and all seems to be ok now...?! .... strange ....
it recognised there was a disc in the machine, the auto play box came up which wasnt happening before ..... im also able to click on the e drive in 'my computer' without the timer staying on... and im able to click on 'burn to disc' which i did and yes ive now got my photo on the disc..!
im pleased it all seems to be ok now, but im a bit puzzled as to why its now ok since trying and playing a nomal cd...?
any ideas please?
thanks
