What strange or daring thing do you want to do - just once, at least - before you die?

Jump out of a plane?

Eat at the world's most expensive restaurant?

Star in a soap opera?

I look forward to the weird and wonderful replies :-)

Jan - Im not brave I just love them - they are stress relievers for me - but I hate big wheels - they freak me out!
Peri - Margarita was one of the poorest islands we've ever stay on. Whilst our hotel had nine, yes, nine swimming pools & all the luxuries imaginable, there was so much poverty outside of it.

The only other place that was stuffed to the hilt with riches & donated money in glass cabinets, was the Church next door to run down shacks, where people were begging outside. Says it all really.

Needless to say, it made us feel guilty & I was in tears more than once.

Yes - sheep shearing for me!
Aww thanks peri x
you are most welcome rinks !
smudge sounds like a lovely holiday - the poverty in these places is dreadful and how can the church justify that ?
Yes, it was lovely inside the hotel & in the grounds, but had armed guards on the gates! We had some fantastic days out too, but this is one of the things that made me cry all the way back to our hotel.

There was young special needs lad aged 15/16, laying outside the Church & near a shop, rocking back & forth on the pavement, completely naked. The locals collected empty drink cans for him to sit & sell to earn them some money - in other words, just using him. It was heartbreaking.

My husband went into the shop & complained that this lad shouldn't be outside naked & that surely someone could give him some dignity & at least put some shorts on him. The shopkeeper said there was no point, because someone would only take them off him & take them home for someone in their family to wear.....
...My husband even offered the shopkeeper money to buy some shorts for him, but as he was told, they would be taken from him.
Hope I haven't spoiled your thread NoMercy - didn't mean to, but there are so many people out there wishing for things.....
thats very sad to read smudge :(

Hi guys. Sorry, but I popped off for something to eat.

Smudge... I went to St. Lucia back in 1997 and saw women washing their clothes in the river. I thought I had seen it all, what with the children selling bunches of bananas at the roadside and all... but your story has really highlighted the lack of privilege that occurs in the wider world - something we all-too-quickly forget about. On the flip side, the do-good westerners can often do more harm than good. Suppose someone gave that poor lad a load of money... would he then have been a target for thieves? Quite possibly, yes.

But what of a nation that will erect a church and kit it out with luxurious embellishments, whilst its neighbours live in utter poverty? It's far from a fair world that we live in.

Peri.... I share your love of roller coasters. The feeling of dread followed in quick succession by the rush of adreneline is surely an incomparable thrill....

Rinkins... I haven't seen a pic, but you have such a lovely personality on here... I seriously doubt you'll be waiting long for Mr. Right to round the corner... xx

Jan... fantastic link. Whales are such amazing and enigmatic creatures.
Back again - just watched Corrie!

Yes you are right NoMercy, there is no justice in this world. We wouldn't have given this lad any money, because he wouldn't have know what to do with it, bless him.

We only hope & pray that he is being fed & has a bed to sleep in at night....

On a happier note - I hope you all manage to do the things you'd like to do before the inevitable. ;o}

P.S. I'm sure Mr right will come along one day rinkins - fate is a strange thing. Good luck. -xx-

I'm not sure if it shows a total lack of ambition on my part or not but I'm good thanks..... Anyway, it's hard to regret much when your brain doesn't work and the worms are turning your body in to part of the 'circle of life'.... Seriously, nothing stands out. I'm happy.
